Query ref timeline refresh

Guys currently when a timeline refreshes (slow mode in the app) I get a count of new toots (which is great), but when I click on the count I get taken to the top of the timeline. Is this intended behaviour? Asking as if I've got (for example) 156 new toots it's problematical trying to scroll down to the last viewed toot. For me the timeline position should be retained so one can scroll up to read the new toots? Any clarification would be appreciated.......

It's the current behavior, some enhancement could be useful here indeed.

Okay thanks. A big stumbling block for me. If it could be adjusted it'd become my main client on my devices.
