Slowness in application?

Open Canuckfanatic80 opened this issue 10 months ago • 5 comments

Greetings

I noticed Parabolic getting extremely slow and for some time unresponsive.

Any idea why this is?

I am unable to reproduce because it seems to occur in a non-pattern way.

Any idea?

I am using Linux Mint latest version

Maybe this is the same as #1068?

Do you have aria2c enabled?

nlogozzo avatar Feb 19 '25 16:02 nlogozzo

No I do think I am using Aria 2

I had to un-install your application and fall back to another app because of this.

What was the video you were trying to download?

What were the options you had selected?

nlogozzo avatar Feb 19 '25 17:02 nlogozzo

I dont remember

It basically was slow ALL the time without downloading anything

I even tried clearing the flatpak directory clean and re-installing, yet still the same slowness "all over" problem.

Are you still experiencing this?

Can you open a system monitor / task manager and tell me the cpu and ram usage of Parabolic while you have it open and not doing anything if that's when it's slow?

Sorry I uninstalled it sometime ago

The ability you made to download multiple videos at once was very Novel

I may try it again in the future but I'm not sure.

Yeah I'm trying to figure it out because I've never experienced slowness and especially when not downloading anything...that shouldn't be happening.

Okay I will maybe try to install the program again tomorrow and test it out

At first when I first installed it it was running fine but then for some reason it started acting up

After that I even tried uninstalling the program and deleting the configuration files in the home directory

Yet still the same dysfunctional behavior with major slowdowns

My laptop is new and every other application works fine so I pretty sure it's only your application.

Okay I will maybe try to install the program again tomorrow and test it out

That would be much appreciated, thank you!

Just 2 minutes ago:

  1. Re-installed Parabolic 2.. Appears to be working OK now
  2. I will monitor the application over the next week or so OK?

Canuckfanatic80 avatar Mar 16 '25 13:03 Canuckfanatic80

Yes please do. And like I said when it starts acting up if you can open the task manager / system monitor / htop and let me know Parabolic's CPU and RAM usage

Hi, any update?

nlogozzo avatar Mar 30 '25 13:03 nlogozzo

Yes

It seems to be working fine so far! 🤠

I will let you know if I find anything wrong further.

Thanks for your great work for the open source software.
