Because 'equipping a 1-cell $f$ with the structure of a monoid' is like having a functor (in an appropriate sense) which sends $f$ to the carrier of a monoid object...

We observed a large import with safety checks turned on took ~28 seconds in Chrome, but only ~10 seconds on Firefox and Safari. I believe that WASM is just slower...
