Notifications timeline
The Problem
The notification badges on rooms are red when you've been pinged, but there's no way to see why or in which message.
The Solution
A timeline of all the messages containing a notifications trigger and a way to jump to said messages would ensure you don't miss anything important. This is important for anyone with an active participating roll in several rooms.
Alternatives
A per-room list of recent pings could also work, but doesn't give as good of an overview and could lead to missing important pings.

There is a red border around messages now when you get pinged. Is that a good enough solution?
Just a border around message is most certainly not enough. In some rooms with high volume it is impossible to scroll through all messages after being offline for a while, this is when the list of notifications is extremely useful. Nheko lacking this makes me have to curl /_matrix/client/v3/notifications . It would be great if nheko displayed this and made it possible to select specific mention to jump there instantly.
I wondered if I just didn't figured out where to find this since I thought Nheko already supports such a timeline, but it seems it doesn't according to this issue so I'd also appreciate that feature. I very often can't find the exact mention in the chat. Important for that would be that if you have that "mentioning" timeline that you can click on the specific message and instantly jump to it in the corresponding room. (So basically what @Midek mentioned.)
I think a good way to integrate it would be a bell icon or something in the sidebar where the other chat "categories" are sorted.
When clicking on it you could see unread chats with the red counter showing the amount of mentions, sorted from newest mention to oldest mention.
And then, when clicking on one of those chats you could see the messages where you have been mentioned only. Clicking on any mention brings you to the chat, to the place where the message has been sent, so you can see the context the chat and the mention was about. ´
Edit: Cinny implements it pretty well on one of their current dev-branches:
