Webstore does not work any more

Open SvenMeyer opened this issue 11 months ago • 9 comments

I have already installed ungoogled-chromium a couple of times on Manjaro Linux (cinnamon) without problems.

  1. Now I have a fresh install of Manjaro Linux (xfce) with ungoogled-chromium-bin installed from the AUR repository

Version 131.0.6778.204 (Official Build, ungoogled-chromium) Arch Linux (64-bit)

  1. I have changed the flag chrome://flags/#extension-mime-request-handling to "Always prompt for install"

  1. I have installed the latest version of the chromium-web-store extension

However when I want to add a new extension from the Webstore (ublock origin is always my first one) it is not working ...

Any idea what might be wrong and how to fix it ?

Seeing the same for all extensions on macOS Sequoia.

Screenshot of “standard macOS gray” theme extension page showing item current avialable: please check the troubleshooting guide

Double-checked and the chrome://flags/#extension-mime-request-handling flag is set to “Always prompt for install”.

Versions:

  • Chromium Web Store: 1.5.4.3
  • Ungoogled Chromium: Version 130.0.6723.116 (Official Build, ungoogled-chromium) (arm64)
  • macOS: 15.2 (24C101)

Same here, was able to download extensions but now I'm not able to anymore. chrome://flags/#extension-mime-request-handling flag is set to “Always prompt for install”

Just found this since I was having the same issue. I think I resolved it by going to the extension settings/details and enabling "Allow access to file URLs"

Does refreshing the page cause the button to appear again? If so this is likely the same cause as #135 Also, as a reminder, you can always right click on the page and select Add to Chromium from the context menu if the button isn't being replaced.

If you cannot find this setting in ungoogled-chromium, go to chrome://flags/ and search for Extensions on chrome:// URLs. Set that to Enabled and extensions should now be installable.

The only way I've been able to get this to work is to go to https://www.ungoogledextensions.com, pasting the url to the chromewebstore extension (ie, https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/dark-reader/eimadpbcbfnmbkopoojfekhnkhdbieeh), then clicking the "download" button.

This will give you a popup context window within UnGoogled Chromium to add it to the extensions.

This works for me, and seems less reckless than changing Chrome flags for all extensions globally.

I can confirm that refreshing the extension page on the chrome web store causes the "Add to Chrome" button to show up, which was previously disabled on first load. I'm using v1.5.4.3
