The gem will reach EOL as Netsuite is ending SOAP

Open gbs4ever opened this issue 3 months ago • 2 comments

Oracle NetSuite has scheduled the gradual removal of SOAP web services from the product as part of ongoing efforts to provide modern integration channels.

SuiteTalk REST web services is the technology intended to replace SOAP.

🚀 Changes with Each Release

📅 2026.1

  • ❌ No new SOAP endpoint is planned.
  • 2025.2 SOAP endpoint is the last planned SOAP endpoint.
  • Future SOAP endpoints would be released only if absolutely necessary (business, technical, or other critical reasons).
  • ✅ All new integrations should use REST Web Services with OAuth 2.0 for authentication.

📅 2027.1

  • ✅ All new integrations must use REST Web Services with OAuth 2.0.
  • 🔄 Token-based authentication in REST is still supported.
  • ⚠️ Strong recommendation to use OAuth 2.0 instead of token-based.

📅 2027.2

  • 🔒 Only the 2025.2 SOAP endpoint will be supported.
  • ⛔ All earlier SOAP endpoints will no longer be supported.
  • 🛠️ SOAP will continue to be available, but bug fixes apply only to 2025.2.

📅 2028.2

  • ❌ SOAP will no longer be available for NetSuite integrations.
  • ⚠️ All existing SOAP integrations will stop working.

@gbs4ever Are you working on or otherwise aware of any RESTful counterparts of this gem?

I'm currently rolling my own library as part of working with a client on a rest NetSuite integration with their rails-based PIM system. I've got tentative approval from the company to extract the NetSuite portion into a separate repo/project for the sake of building a community solution. If someone else is already working on RESTful replacement I'd love to collaborate, share code, discuss, etc.

I have not even started yet, I would also need approval from my client
