Question: what API versions are people using?
What API (SOAP) versions are people using?
I have been using 2020_1 for a couple years without issues. But it will soon be deprecated. I very lightly proof-of-concepted 2024_2 and some basic actions of mine worked OK.
But I am curious on how big of an issue it is to jump from 2020 to 2024? Perhaps it is application-specific and there is no general answer.
I'm on 2025_1 currently, and originally started with 2020_2.
I stepped through one version at a time (2020_2 to 2021_1, then to 2021_2, etc.) to reduce the surface area of potential breaking changes so it'd be clear which version might have broken something.
It was smooth for me, I don't believe I had to change any application code during the process, though I'd say our integration is on the smaller side. I'd imagine the more integrated your application is with NetSuite, the bigger chance there is of any upgrade requiring application changes.
@cgunther Yes my integration is on the smaller side. I went straight from 2020_1 to 2025_1 and didn't experience any issues after some testing.
Aside: I received word from my NetSuite client that SOAP as a whole is being deprecated around 2028 / 2029 and NetSuite is forcing everyone to migrate to REST services. What a nightmare
Yes crazy nightmare, but i would make sure to move to 2025_2 if possible, which gives you more time to migrate to the rest API
