PADListener on Kindle

Attempting to sync using PADListener basically annihilates my wifi. It says I'm connected but PAD refuses to open because of a lack of connection and trying to use the Internet is the same. Even after PADListener is force closed, the device still won't reconnect to the wifi. In fact, to try to fix it, I told the device to turn off wifi and then turn it back on to reset it, but it literally won't turn the wifi back on now. Hitting the on button results in nothing happening. This has happened twice now. The first time I tried to reboot my Kindle and got a ridiculous and terrifying recovery screen that I've never gotten before and had to go through multiple steps to even get my Kindle back on, and this second time I tried updating the app to the latest version but still get the same results.
