Drawer app search: pressing "back" clears the search field instead of closing the keyboard

Open breversa opened this issue 2 years ago • 0 comments

Description

In the drawer, when searching for an app by name, tapping the "back" button clears the search field and hence the result list.

In itself, it’s not very problematic… except in landscape mode, where the keyboard masks the search results (screen size-dependent, of course). This is where I expect the "back" button to mask the keyboard and allow me to see the search results.

Please note that I’m not 100% that this is a launcher or a keyboard issue!

Expected Behavior

After typing an app’s (partial) name, I expect to be able to see the matching app(s) and be able to tap on them.

Actual Behavior

On my phone, the keyboard masks the search results. Tapping the "back" button clears both the search field and the search results, instead of masking the keyboard app.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Rotate your phone to landscape mode (with rotation on, of course)
  2. Open the drawer (with search field on)
  3. Start typing an app’s name
  4. See that the keyboard app masks all/most of the search results
  5. Tap the "back" button to mask the keyboard
  6. See that it clears the search field and hence the search results, making search in landscape mode unusable

Device and OS

  • Device: Samsung Galaxy S9
  • Android version: 10
  • Launcher version: 0.9.3
  • Rom: /e/OS
  • Keyboard: Microsoft Swiftkey (french bépo layout)
