DuckDuckGo search with DuckDuckGo app not working with 2-word+ queries

Open Hamster45105 opened this issue 1 year ago • 0 comments

Description

When searching for something more than one word long, when the default browser is set to “DuckDuckGo” in Android settings and the search engine is set to “DuckDuckGo (web)” in the neo launcher settings, instead of searching for the query it searches for “https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Your search”

Note: I am using the query “Your search” as an example query

Expected Behavior

Just as when you search for a one-word query, DuckDuckGo should open up and in the search bar in DuckDuckGo, the only thing displaying there should be your search.

Actual Behavior

In the search bar in DuckDuckGo “https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Your search“ is being displayed.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Download DuckDuckGo app and set the default browser to DuckDuckGo
  2. Under “Search & Feed” in the launcher settings set “Search Engine” to “DuckDuckGo (web)”
  3. Search for a query that is 2 or more words in the app drawer (eg. Android launcher) and click enter
  4. You see the problem

Device and OS

  • Android version: 13
  • Launcher version: 0.9.3
  • Rom: One UI 5.1
  • DuckDuckGo version: 5.162.0

Suggestion for Improvement

Supposedly, the launcher should open up “https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Your%20search” ( with “%20” instead of the space)
