Locking desktop removes all desktop customizations

Open summersab opened this issue 3 years ago • 8 comments

Description

After enabling the "Lock Desktop" option, all customization to the desktop (widgets, icons, icon position, etc.) are removed.

Note that this is only observed on the Samsung Galaxy S9 and does not occur on my personal OnePlus 7 Pro.

Also note that restarting the phone prior to locking the desktop, restarting the launcher via the context menu in settings after locking the desktop, force closing the launcher, etc. does not make a difference.

This may be related to #275

Expected Behavior

The desktop settings (widgets, icons, icon position, etc.) should remain unchanged after locking the desktop.

Actual Behavior

All customization to the desktop (widgets, icons, icon position, etc.) are removed.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Customize desktop
  2. Open the Neo Launcher settings
  3. Enable "Lock Desktop"
  4. Go home; all customizations will be removed.

Device and OS

  • Device: Samsung Galaxy S9 "star" SM-G960U
  • Android version: 10 G960USQU9FVB2
  • Launcher version: 0.9.3
  • Rom: Stock

I have the same problem. Do you have an icon pack? Any other modifications? Could you share your settings on the s9 and the OP7 Pro?

I have the same problem.

Android 12 (58.2.A.7.93) with Xperia 1 II.

To add: backing up and restoring the home screen also did not work sadly. Therefore, I had to rebuild several times and just ended up not locking my desktop.

Same problem here. OnePlus Nord N10 5G. Android 11. Neo Launcher 0.9.3. Mellow Dark UI (icon pack). Scoop Log

I get the same issue on my Xperia 2 II. It seems consistent.

This is exactly my experience. It's a bit of a shame because the phone that I had issues with is my mother's, and I use Neo on my family's devices to keep them from accidentally deleting or rearranging things on their home screens. Thankfully, it works on my 92-yr-old grandfather's tablet (he can muck things up pretty badly without meaning to), and my mom doesn't have this problem as frequently. However, a fix would be nice at some point.

I'm happy to provide logs or stack traces if the devs are interested. Just tell me what you need.

Thanks for the great work!

Can confirm that this does happen on my pixel 7 pro running the latest release of GrapheneOS.
