new option "Always display keyboard"

Open githubkusi opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

Problem To launch an app, I almost always use the keyboard and press one or two letters. For me it doesn't make sense if the keyboard is hidden. I am not using any widgets. However, under certain conditions, it is hidded, no matter minimalistic UI or not and/or "Display keyboard on start" is on. It is not yet clear to me when/what triggers the keyboard to be hidden

Solution An option "Always display keyboard" would be great

Already exists. Under User experience the very first option is "Display keyboard on start"

@dkoch84 I have "Display keyboard on start" enabled but often the keyboard is not shown. When you have an app open and move it away by sliding from the very bottom to the top of the screen (not closing the app), the keyboard is not shown. When the keyboard is not shown, you lock/unlock the phone, then the keyboard is shown.

I'm on android 15 and the keyboard shows up for me when I slide from bottom to top of screen.

For me it doesn't. I have enabled "Display keyboard on start".

Using traditional navigation it does pop up, but using the more modern gesture-navigation (swiping up to go to home) it doesn't open.
