Keyboard issue

Describe the bug The keyboard opens and closes after pressing the home button while you are in an app.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go and open some app.
  2. Click on home button
  3. then the keyboard will open and close quickly
  4. After that it will not open the keyboard, then you have to press home button again.

Expected behavior When I am using some app, and I press the home button there have to open homepage of KISS launcher with keyboard without opening and closing of the keyboard. It has to open keyboard. I selected from setting to open keyboard.

Wow, that's pretty bad. Not happening on my test devices.

Out of curiosity, in Settings => User Experience, do you have "display keyboard on start" checked?

If so: there is something wrong that's hiding the keyboard If not: wondering if maybe your device automatically shows keyboard when giving focus to a field?

Honestly not really sure what's going on here, and seems to be device specific (or maybe Android-version specific?) Do you think you could investigate? Happy to merge if you get a fix :)

I do you have "display keyboard on start". My Android version is 9.0. Huawei's EMUI version 9.0. I guess it the problem of EMUI. I noticed other some small problems with Huawei phones.

EDIT : Sorry I misread the bug report. :(

When "display keyboard on start" is checked, keyboard pops-up and stay as expected. I'm on Android11/OneUI3.0 so it should be a EMUI related issues.

I'm not using navigation bar but swiping gestures from bottom if it could helps.

Same problem on dotOS (aosp android 11) with AnySoftKeyboard. When the option "display keyboard on start" is selected, the first time after pressing home, the keyboard appears and soon vanishes. If the option is not selected, I need to press on the bar twice (if I wait a while I can use the keyboard on the first press). This doesn't happen if I go to the home screen via recent screen, it looks like the app needs to load (or crashes) and soon restarts, but some glitch is perceivable and the keyboard doesn't show up Here is a short logcat that might help (wih the option selected).

@glemco impressive investigation.

@Neamar no chance to fix this old issue on basis of this log?

Same issue on my end. Checked the above mentioned settings. Same bug.

GrapheneOS latest Kiss 3.21.0

I do use the listed mode of Kiss.
