Printer.py or server.py hang on device scan until restarted PC

I use the MX10 cat printer. When using the server.py for a while I get the following: when using the CUPS address it doesn't print anymore, and then it doesn't respond at all. It gives the following output and sits and does nothing:

Cat Printer
Scanning for devices…

This stays until the restart of the host. What gives?
