[Runtime Bug]: STALKER Anomaly
Describe the bug
A bug happened where... upon opening the game, it crashes before the main menu loads.
How do you reproduce the bug?
- Download the latest version 1.5.3 of the game (it's a free standalone mod whitelisted by GSC Game World).
- Install Remix DXVK files into /bin folder (Client is 64bit only, bridge isn't needed)
- Open Stalker Anomaly Launcher, set renderer to DX8 (uses DX8 feature set, is actually running DX9 in practice)
- Launch. The launcher will close, the game window will open as a black screen then it crashes to desktop.
This crashing issue cannot be reproduced on standalone DXVK going as far back as DXVK 2.0 from November 10th, 2022. Standalone DXVK loads up the game in Vulkan as expected using the d3d9.dll file.
What is the expected behavior?
The runtime should... open the game. The menu should load.

Regarding concerns of the legality of Stalker Anomaly being a free standalone game (doesn't require ownership of any Stalker title), rest assured that Stalker Anomaly is whitelisted by GSC Game World as it follows the guidelines provided on their website, specifically the section about standalone mods. https://www.gsc-game.com/guidelines/
In these guidelines Stalker Anomaly respects requirements such as but not limited to including an official link to the paid games directly from the main menu, as well as clarification that they are not affiliated with GSC Game World. GSC's guidelines state that all standalone games that meet their requirements are automatically whitelisted as permitted for distribution. No manual intervention/approval is required, so long as the reqs are met.
This concern was brought up in the Remix community Discord so I did research on it to make sure the instructions above are totally above board.
UPDATE: I've done additional testing to confirm that there's seemingly no regression in Remix involved. I tried every stable build back to Remix 0.3.0 and each suffered from the same crash before hitting the menu.
Thanks for reaching out! We've filed REMIX-3945 for internal tracking.
