Symlinks for textures

What is the context of the feature/improvement?

I like to split my ingested files into folders depending on what level in game and if its structural or a prop. This means I don't have to scroll through tons of files to find something so its much easier. The base game is quite large at 5gb so lots to replace and I use the same textures repeatedly.

Please describe the feature/improvement?

If instead of packaging a mod with the same texture multiple times, you could create a symlink to one of the textures with the same hash, it would save a lot of space.

What would be your solution? (optional)

Hi @Frissj, thanks for filing. I've got a few questions to clarify here: Are you running into problems when using symlinks to organize your textures? Or is this a request to provide a symlink option somewhere?

@nxkb Hi. As I understand, because I ingest files to different folders depending on the layer, textures when packaging the mod are duplicated as its copies the absolute file path? I like to ingest to different folders to make it a lot quicker to select the replacement and because it allows me to use the same name if the replacement is on different layers which avoids complicated file names. Anyway, instead of copying the texture twice, if it has the same hash as a previous texture, could a symlink be created instead so the mod file size is not twice as large as it needs to be?
