Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition - Interacting with objects and entering certain dialogues and cutscenes causes materials to render full white
Describe the bug
- When interacting with certain objects or dialogue windows, the game appears to lose its ability to display textures and instead turns into a still path traced, but fully white material rendered scene.
I originally thought this had something to do with some UI texture not being marked correctly, but after having gone over the textures several times that doesn't seem to be the case, could potentially be some shader thing happening here?
- Issue is present in all versions of remix
- Logs, I'm submitting the log files here. SH2_WhiteMaterialLogs.zip
To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Set the game and Enhanced Edition up by following my guide - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hayGXNlAJZWOp2ivV8otdSMP23pbXk7DL-pfLq5ZJjU
- Start the game and skip the opening cinematics
- Walk out of the bathroom and skip yet another cinematic. ( Observe that this issue happens for a second at the start of this cutscene )
- Walk to the car parked near the bathroom and pick up the map, observe how game turns fully white rendered for a few seconds as you interact with the map.
- Once you've picked up the map, run as far to the right of the level as possible out onto the road, when reaching the invisible wall on the road, observe that a text interaction shows up and once again the screen turns white, this time it doesn't go away after a short period, but stays until you close out of the dialogue interaction.
Expected behavior
- The game rendering normally during these interactions

Updated OP with a screenshot, which specific logs would you be looking for and where could I locate them?
There are three log files generated. d3d9.log and gamename_d3d9.log should be in the same directory as the executable. NvRemixBridge.log will be located in the .trex folder.

I've updated the OP to contain the logs.
Hello! Will you please test this on the latest release and let us know if the issue persists? Thank you!
Thank you for reaching out. We're going to close this ticket due to an extended period with no response. If the issue persists for you on the latest build, please open a new ticket.
I haven't responded because I can't get into the game to test anymore, I'll have to get back to you when the game works again.
Tested on latest, issue still persists. @NV-LL
Done some re-testing on latest as of today, issue still persists.
Hey @traggey - thanks for the update, and sorry to hear about your arm! We have REMIX-3733 open to track this internally.
