Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition - World Scale settings do not go low enough.

Open traggey opened this issue 1 year ago • 6 comments

Describe the bug

  • The slider for handling game world scale changes currently only goes down to a min value of 0.01, however Silent Hill 2 needs to go lower than that, with the default rendering the player character is over a kilometer large.

Below is a capture from the starting bathroom scene in Silent Hill 2 done at 0.01 scale, imported into 3D's Max and placed alongside a 1 X 1 meter cube, as you can see the environment is still far too large, this is causing issues with lighting the environment and importing real world scaled meshes.

image

  • Issue is present in all versions of remix

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  • Set the game and Enhanced Edition up by following my guide - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hayGXNlAJZWOp2ivV8otdSMP23pbXk7DL-pfLq5ZJjU
  • Start the game and skip the opening cinematics
  • Once standing in the bathroom open the developer menu and set world scale to 0.01.
  • Capture.

Expected behavior

  • Ability for the slider to go below 0.01 in order to scale things down to a proper size.

Hi @traggey! This issue has been addressed in a recent release and confirmed internally. As such, we're going to close this ticket. Please open another one to let us know if the issue persists for you.

Have you guys actually been testing these?

I just checked with latest and this issue also still persists just as described in the original post.

Hi @traggey , we took a look at this issue this morning since you said it was not fixed. We discovered that while the code was put in place to support lower values, and you can manually enter lower values that then get saved, that the slider does not render a value smaller that 3 decimal places below zero. We pushed an update this morning to display values as low as 5 decimal places below zero. Can you let us know if you see this improvement on the latest build of dxvk-remix?

Hey there @nv-ajaus ! Was going to test this just now however new crashes are preventing me from doing so. In good news, my Albedo textures are once again rendering so that's great, however after about 2 seconds of gameplay the game now crashes every time without fail.

Thank you for providing the crash dump file. I took a look and I believe it might be the same symptom as the latest dump file provided with issue #405, so I haven't filed a new internal ticket for this crash.
