Metin 2 - Constant crashing issue

Open k-rasher opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

Describe the bug

  • The game runs fine for a few minutes or sometimes even seconds until it goes into "Not Responding" state very often once you move around or use basic Remix functionality after leaving the game process "unfocused" (?), also might be terrain-related because i can't seem to replicate the crash in the "indoor" maps (in-game levels/maps that dont contain sky and terrain, which are built on meshes - like dungeons)
  • dxvk-remix-458b010-347-release
  • bridge-remix-1126a3c-40-release
  • RTX 3090
  • 546.31
  • Metin 2 private server build "InsomniaMT2" - Download/Registration available here https://insomniamt2.pl/ (using a translator should help)

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the crash:

  1. Download the game client from a hosting of choice https://insomniamt2.pl/download
  2. Register a game account on https://insomniamt2.pl/account/register
  3. Launch _Autopatcher_InsomniaMT2.exe to patch the game first
  4. Install RTX Remix
  5. Open InsomniaMT2.exe to launch the game
  6. Upon launching the game, you will have to mark some textures as UI in order to see anything
  7. Enter your account credentials to login, create a character (Stwórz Postać) and enter the game (Wybierz Postać button or Enter key)
  8. Straight after loading into the game, go to game settings (bottom right corner of the screen), select "Opcje Systemowe", in the pop up window select Kamera - "Dalej" (this allows you to move the camera further from the character), Mgła - "Światło" (this increases the rendering distance) and F.O.V - "Daleko" (increases camera FOV)
  9. Press TAB to bring up a teleportation menu and choose "Jinno M1" level (bottom right corner of the map)
  10. Make necesarry Game Setup steps - Categorize sky, UI and most importantly, terrain textures (the important ones are the Base Color ones and to prevent terrain from flickering mark additional lightmap textures)
  11. In Parameter Tuning, make sure to have Scene Z-Up enabled
  12. Enable Runtime Terrain Baking, camera navigation binds are as follows - R key zooms in, F key zooms out, Right Mouse Button to rotate the view
  13. Run around the map and wait for it to crash 13.1. Another way that i managed to replicate this, is to not move the character/camera view for around ~30 seconds or ~1-3 minutes and then move the camera around in a one, fast move using right mouse button

If the crash is somehow indeed related to terrain, Here could be some useful informations about how the terrain is handled ingame
