Using large number of channels

First of all, thank you for such an amazing work.

I'm considering to use 24 channel input. (By reading eight 3-channeled images and stacking them) And perhaps, get 24-channel output and seperately save into eight 3-channel images.

Is it possible to use 24 channel input?
