Modified base plate to fit SMA antennas
Adds extensions and holes to allow users to add SMA antennas. Looks better, works better too.
These are small wifi antennas that work fine: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07111BNBB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Here's a picture of a beta version:
Hi Chris,
Thanks for sharing, this looks awesome!
Do you have a fork that you're working out of with these changes?
Best, John
No, but I can do that if it's easier for you to pull from a fork. I figured you'd want to modify the original CAD file rather than using my janky hack ;-)
BTW, if you want to lower the center of mass for better handling, I've used 15mm standoffs, not the 20mm specified, and it works well. It does requires the motor controller to be moved a bit closer to the edge of the baseplate to give it enough room. So if you're redesigning the plate for antennas, you might want to consider doing that, too
Hi Chris, Thank you for letting us know the cool trick to lower the center of mass. And we will definitely consider adding the SMA antenna fork for the next revision of STL file, BoM and hardware assembly manual.
Hi Chris, We just introduce JetRacer - Tamiya version, added the separate BoM and Hardware Setup doc for it. https://github.com/NVIDIA-AI-IOT/jetracer/blob/master/docs/tamiya/bill_of_materials.md https://github.com/NVIDIA-AI-IOT/jetracer/blob/master/docs/tamiya/hardware_setup.md
We included the SMA antenna connector mount holes on its 3d-printed chassis. It was a great idea! Thank you again.
