Why logstash?

Hello, This may not be an issue, but I don't see the use of logstash, wouldn't Spark Streaming be enough to ingest the data and send it to Elasticsearch for indexation? I have looked everywhere on the internet for an answer to this question but unfortunately, I found none. I really hope someone can help with this.
