There is a feature I planned (https://github.com/NLSurfMan/tasks/issues/2) that would support this. It's hard to spend time on this project, but I'll start working on this asap.

If I comment out line 2184 the extension will load and it will show the buttons in the bottom bar. No side effects so far.

Well, sort of, I guess. I definately haven't abandoned it, I just haven't found the time to overhaul the plugin. My job and family have been very time comsuming, so...
