Best way to convert Real data into complex data type

Hi, As you already have worked on CVNN wanted to know your opinion about the following. I wanted to know the best way to convert real data into complex as just having 0 imaginary parts doesn't seem right and the performance boost isn't great either. Also, vice versa, as just neglecting the imaginary part doesn't we lose information?
