What is this new feature?

Will Chapman had a great idea to add a feature to write a netcdf file for each figure with just the data being plotted. This will allow someone to make their own publication quality figures.

I'm thinking a flag, something like 'write_figure_data' that is false by default, and then someone can set true to get a bunch of these tiny files.

Assistance required?

Yes, I am requesting a new feature but won't have time to develop it
