Feature: Add a Death Timer to the character sheet

Open WisdomOfWombats opened this issue 2 years ago • 5 comments

Add a button for rolling the death timer with 1d4 + Con bonus (minimum roll: 1), and note the result on the character sheet. Added bonus feature: counts down automatically for each round that passes in the combat tracker.

A button that shows up to roll this when you are at 0 hit points I agree with, but the countdown automation may be a step too far.

As I said, countdown automation is nice to have and not really necessary. But having a field to manually track the result in would be really appreciated. The Index Card RPG system does something similar without automated countdown. Also, that system has a nice way to add timers to a scene. It's low to no automizatiion for ICRPG, so that could be a good fit?

We should also add an Effect that counts down to death to take advantage of the timed effects HUD work @bakbakbakbakbak did.

With, preferably, a way that the timer is only visible to the DM and the player that made the roll.

That is how it will be automatically, as you'd only be able to see those effects on the HUD for tokens you can control. It would require selecting a token on the scene though, which may not be what we're looking for here.

However, it shouldn't be too hard to make an effect dynamically, using the result of the roll for the death timer. The items in the Spell Effect compendium could be used as inspiration.
