[BUG] WSA Stopped working after a while I tried to reinstall it and the issue wasn't fixed
Describe the bug
WSA successfully installs on my windows 10 but it doesn't want to launch. I have all the features turned on that are related to virtualization. I hoped there was a way to delete all the wsa data from my laptop. I don't know where it stores all that data and downloaded apps. I guess that's the problem. If I could just delete all the data and reinstall it from scratch it would work. However, as it stands right now it doesn't want to run. WSA launches it's not like it crashes or anything but it doesn't want to open apps or anything. I'll provide a screenshot below.
One more thing. I thought the WSA file that I placed in my documents could be corrupted and I deleted it and extracted a fresh wsa file from the archieve I downloaded form wsa builds but it still didn't fix the issue.
Steps to reproduce the issue
I didn't do anything. It stopped working on its own. Everything was working fine. The next day. I wanted to open it and it didn't let me.
Expected behaviour
I don't know what happened

Having the same issue. Noticed it earlier today.
@reddevil7nine @Ahabouayoub Please follow this guide and let me know if it helped: https://github.com/MustardChef/WSABuilds/blob/master/Documentation%2FFix%20Guides%2FPost-Install%20Issues%2FWSA%20Stopped%20Working%21.md.
@MustardChef I tried everything that was on that page. disabled the windows features, changed the registery editor value, turned off virtualization from bios and uninstalled wsa with WSAUNINSTALL.py and restarted the system turned everything back on. and extracted a new wsa file to documents and ran run.bat. it installed like usual but doesn't want to launch files or anything for that matter.
I just got this to work. I'm not sure what option it was but I enabled Local network access under Experimental features and As needed under Memory and performance
Bit more info. Looks like it's Local network access. Unfortunately, there's no internet access after enabling it. However, disabling my VPN and with Local network access disabled, everything is fine.
@reddevil7nine I'm glad that fixed the issue for you. Mine still doesn't want to start. I don't know what's the issue. I uninstalled it completely and reinstalled it again but no luck. Still doesn't want to launch.
@MustardChef I found a file in LocalState\diagnostics\etw\ I hope you'll find the issue there. I tried to connect through adb but no luck as wsa is down and it doesn't connect. Anyways. this is the contents in WsaSettings.xml file on my laptop
@MustardChef I have just figured out that I have this problem too. wsa service in services.msc doesn't want to start and it gives me error 193:0xc1
and when I try to run it in wsa service in powershell it gives me this:
Start-Service -Name "WSAService" Start-Service : Service 'Windows Subsystem for Android™ (WSAService)' cannot be started due to the following error: Cannot start service WSAService on computer '.'. At line:1 char:1
- Start-Service -Name "WSAService"
-
+ CategoryInfo : OpenError: (System.ServiceProcess.ServiceController:ServiceController) [Start-Service], ServiceCommandException + FullyQualifiedErrorId : CouldNotStartService,Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.StartServiceCommand
To add to this, can confirm I've had WSA crash at launch IF I am already connected to the internet + VPN before launching. If it starts crashing, disabling internet and VPN on the PC and then launching WSA, then re-enabling internet + VPN afterwards allows for everything to run fine.
I notice when it's in the process of crashing (internet + VPN connected) if one looks in 'Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections' you can actually see the 'vEthernet (WSLCore)' adapter flashing (as in appearing and disappearing rapidly from that network panel) as if it's failing to latch to the correct adapter or something, then WSA crashes.
Unsure if this helps anyone.
I'm having the same problem on Windows 10. Everything worked fine at first, but suddenly I couldn't launch any apps, and there was no error message. I ran the test with PowerShell and received the same error message. Installing the stable version yesterday made no difference either.
\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\MicrosoftCorporationII.WindowsSubsystemForAndroid_8wekyb3d8bbwe\
WsaClient.exe is at 0 bytes.
In the installation files: WSA_2407.40000.4.0_x64_Release-Nightly-GApps-13.0-NoAmazon_Windows_10\WSA_2407.40000.4.0_x64\WsaClient\
WsaClient.exe 4.87 MB (5,110,784 bytes)
But I can't replace the WsaClient.exe. Maybe it's accessible?
@MustardChef I have just figured out that I have this problem too. wsa service in services.msc doesn't want to start and it gives me error 193:0xc1
i've fixed the Error 193:0xc1
it caused by a file in my user directory with my username! for example if your windows username is John Doe
when you enter %APPDATA% in run command, it should opened this directory : C:\Users\John Doe\AppData\Roaming
but if you have the same issue as i , after entering %APPDATA% in run command, it will not and just says which program do you want to open with?!
so, go to C:\Users and look for a file name John or John Doe and delete it or move it to another location.
it will fix WSA Service start issue also fixes %APPDATA%
it's just a conflict with windows PATH systems btw.
