Readability.js alternative to Mercury

I was wondering if using Readability.js might be a good alternative to the Mercury API (if it's possible of course, I'm not at all familiar with browser extension development).

I remember a while ago the popular Reeder app doing the switch.

In theory it should work, but the extension would then require permission to access all websites. Some users could see that as a security risk.

With the current solution, the extension only needs access to Feedly and the mercury API.
