FYI, I maintain https://github.com/nexB/scancode-toolkit ... It could help for the license detection side. It is also written in Python

It's not a bad idea I have to see for the docs but I am open to pull requests of course.

Reading after all those years I think that a advanced mode that use that package in a way that checks all the dependence etc is not a bad idea, but not as mandatory or it will be very slow.
