Updating connections crashes when restarting XTB

Open rappen opened this issue 6 months ago • 15 comments

I said Yes to update the XTB connections to 1.2025.9.x When it says that we need to restart XTB, I get this error, and every time I try to start XTB!

There should have been an XrmToolBox update too... that does not have this issue 😭 I guess you just need to update manually your XrmToolBox app

I unlisted the new package for now to avoid the issue for other users. So only the update of XrmToolBox should be proposed

Should we update XrmToolBox first, and the McTools.Xrm.Connection.dll? Or is this a classic problem in Power Platform: MissingDepencies....? 😅

If you update XrmToolBox, you get new connection controls too but the "missing" method should be included. I don't know why it fails as I tested the combination of XrmToolBox with this new version of connection controls for a week before releasing it...

I just wanted to know: when you opened XrmToolBox and it proposed you to update connection controls, did you already see the form that shows an update for XrmToolBox main application?

MscrmTools avatar Oct 13 '25 06:10 MscrmTools

Still happened to me in the last 15 minutes.

The package is unlisted an hour ago, I don't see how XrmToolBox could propose you an update for connection controls...

I am still having this problem, can you suggest me how I could fix it? Been smashing the XrmToolBox.AutoUpdater.exe for 20 mins

Just download manually from www.xrmtoolbox.com et replace your XrmToolBox folder content with the zip downloaded

Sorry, I wasn't looking closely enough... just saw that the connection should be updated, didn't check the whole form.

Hi, I have the same problem... "Just download manually from www.xrmtoolbox.com et replace your XrmToolBox folder content with the zip downloaded" worked for me.

ah crap! The code that retrieve latest version of connection controls does not exclude unlisted versions... I will add this but all users will get this issue :/

Yeah, me too.

This is a major failure but I don't have any control over it unfortunately... I can just improve code so that it does hot happen next time I change something in connection controls...

yes, both updates were visible and I updated the wrong part first, the workaround in here helped, though
