Videos won't download anymore
I've been using this program for about a year or two now, and it's worked perfectly fine. Sure, the odd error here or there, but usually it would fix itself with no problem.
Recently, however, the program just won't download anything. It goes to pre-processing, then immediately just goes to an error. I thought that maybe there was a copyright issue or something, but I've tried it with a multitude of videos and none of them will download. I've tested this both on my work laptop and home desktop and have gotten the same result. Is the program just dead or something? Is it possible that some weird new YouTube change has broken the downloader? Am I the only one having this issue? Please help!
I would also like to mention that this issue only started yesterday. Ever since the 17th, I haven't been able to download anything. I'll note down if anything works, but this feels really bizarre for it to just all of a sudden not work
Same here, stopped working yesterday. Hopefully this gets fixed.
I think I found the issue. I checked the program log and saw that every output was the same
Unable to extract uploader id; please report this issue on https://yt-dl.org/bug . Make sure you are using the latest version; type youtube-dl -U to update. Be sure to call youtube-dl with the --verbose flag and include its complete output.
I tried using the built-in option to update, but it didn't fix the issue. I even tried redownloading the program... nothing is fixing it.
It looks like youtube-dl did get an update, but the GUI hasn't added it yet.
Alternative option while you wait for youtube-dl to merge fix is to use this fork, which uses yt-dlp (fixes already merged)

Both youtube-dl and youtube-dl-gui are abandoned, and should not be used any more.
Instead, use yt-dlp and any of these GUIS.
Oh. I thought it was a problem on my end, but it turns out I swapped to a new laptop during the exact window this issue was cropping up for people.
I had similar problems, but only for some videos. After updaing, every single video on YouTube INSTANTLY errors.

Streams only downloading the first 4 hours? Fixed.
Ludicrously slow downloads? Fixed.
Videos downloading but then erroring before it can merge the video and audio? Fixed.
Videos failing to start downloading at all? Fixed.

Oh wow, it worked 100% perfectly 100% of the time until today. There's no other alternatives.
