PSP Video Formats and Subtitles

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened this issue 9 years ago • 1 comments

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. its not exactly a problem... i just wanted to know if there could possibly
be an update for the pro cfw to be able to read more types of video formats.
this could make life a lot more easier for those people who watch plenty of
movies, but have to struggle to convert them into a psp-friendly format (which
are only 2, as far as i know)

2. also, even if you cant increase the number of psp-readable video formats,
could there atleast be a modification to read subtitles along with the video?
this option is available only on UMD videos, even on the OFWs, but my question
is, could this be done even on videos on the memory stick?

can this be done? this would promote the life of the cfw trend, especially PRO
CFW!!!

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

i do believe this problem exists on all psp's.

Please provide any additional information below.

there is one homebrew app called PMP ADVANCE, but its not too user-friendly.
making a change in the firmware itself would make life a lot more convenient!!!

Would be hard to integrate more formats. (especially that the psp is not very
powerful and we need CPU to decrypt videos)

IIRC, subtitles are supported but only with the MP4 format (subtitles and audio
must be embedded in the file).
