I have no experience writing RFC's, but if this is going to be a foundation for a real protocol and process, that strikes me as the right approach.

You think this issue is worth keeping around for later conversion to an RFC? Or should I close? The RFC on writing RFC's!

Looking at your Github profile leads me to believe you have a lot more experience at this than I have so I will defer to your judgement.

My github profile is too kind. I'm very conversational online, so I have breadth, but not as much depth as I'd like :)

But yes, I'd love to leave this open.
