Error caught in Sync Tab Groups

Open MrChris123 opened this issue 5 years ago • 5 comments

Hi, I am getting a similar error to https://github.com/Morikko/sync-tab-groups/issues/166 where frequent "Error caught in Sync Tab Groups" messages are appearing. The symptoms are:

  1. When Firefox loads none of my tab groups are loaded.
  2. When I go to the preferences and try to load an automatic backup, the Selector window opens and shows all the groups, I can select them all, but when I click on Import nothing appears to happen.

I am running Sync Tab 0.8.1 on Firefox Quantum 68.0.2 (64-bit) on Windows 7 Professional SP1.

I have disabled all other extensions, and the log (renamed as a .log as .js aren't allowed) is from a fresh restart. I can provide the backup group I am trying to load too if required.

Cheers,

Chris SyncTabGroups-Log-20190830-140054.log

Just as an update to explain what I had to do in the end to get back to where I was.

  1. I took a copy my last group backup file
  2. Uninstalled and re-installed SyncTab Groups.
  3. Extracted the group names and URL information from the backup file
  4. Pasted it into Word to make the URLs active hyperlinks.
  5. For each group a) Create a new group and switch to it b) Click on all the URLs for that group

I'll see how SyncTab Groups behaves. I did notice that there were a couple of more popular similar extensions that seem to be actively developed, but I really like the features STG has, so hopefully I can stick with it.

Sorry, STG is not heavily maintain any more and fully working for my own utilization.

I would completely understand you prefer to use another application.

Else, you could PR a fix I will check.

@Morikko

Hi, thanks for replying. It's a shame you are not actively working on STG as it is an excellent add-on.

I have had no more issues since I re-made my groups, and am still using STG. It must have been a one -off blip.

Cheers,

Chris

Oops. I had the same problem as you, @MrChris123, so I followed your directions, not realizing that the add-on had been removed from mozilla.org. Is there any way to get a copy of the XPI so I can reinstall the add-on and at least access the backups and try to export them? Thanks for any help you can provide.

The last released XPI is attached here: https://github.com/Morikko/sync-tab-groups/releases/download/v0.8.2/sync_tab_groups-0.8.1-fx.xpi
