Add option to automatically display Media flyout when a track changes

Open Samuel12321 opened this issue 5 years ago • 19 comments

Have an option for the flyout to popup on media change i.e. when a song ends and a new one starts playing, when a video ends and the next video autoplays.

This would be nice for the user to be able to see what is song playing now or what video just autocued (if they have it playing in the background and are just listening) without having to pause, change the volume or give any user input. You can even call it "Enable Quick Glance"

Oh I thought that was automatically appearing as a bug.

They want it as a feature? Easy implementation but why would anyone want this?

Yes

No idea. It would definitely need to be a setting that is by default off.

Tentatively added this to 0.8.4

Hello... I'm the one who suggested this feature through the MS store.

I use MusicBee as my default media player, and while working away on other apps the player remains minimized. It would be nice to know what track has started playing without needing to maximize the player... ;)

@krilok,

I'm the one who suggested this feature through the MS store.

Thanks for providing feedback! 😄

I will try my best. It could take a bit longer to do this task because of other high priority tasks. I will sure implement this feature in the future.

Just wondering if there was any further news on having this feature implemented... Thanks.

@krilok hi, No news yet, as we are currently only 2 developers with limited spare time it may take a while. Currently we have been prioritising stability, we do plan on adding this sometime in the future.

Completely understandable. No hurries, hopefully in the near future. Thank you for the reply anyhow... 😉

It's been several months now since I last inquired, so just wanted to respectfully ask developers if this feature will ever be incorporated to the app. If not possible at all, that's quite alright; I thank you anyhow for your time and effort.

Hi @krilok sorry for the delay, unfortunately the team hasn't had a lot of spare time the past few months. However active development for 0.11 is now well underway so i will tentatively add this for 0.12.

Which would be the preferred output? A toast notification like this: Screenshot 2022-04-07 123524

Or the media flyout triggered like this Screenshot 2022-04-07 124237 :

I feel, showing the media flyout is better and more efficient, since it occupies roughly the same area on the screen, plus you can quickly skip the song if you don't like it (as an example).

The notification looks a bit too compact, with no way to control music via that. Hmm, but then, you can just use the media keys to control music instead of the flyout.

AAAAAAAAAAAAA

Thank you for following up on this.

Both options are nice, to be honest. If I had to chose, I guess I'd opt for the toast notification, since perhaps the media flyout is a bit too large and busy for my taste.

Maybe the toast notification but with slightly larger album art and small media controls?

I would prefer a toast, but I wouldn't use this feature tbh

Mattwmaster58 avatar Apr 21 '22 21:04 Mattwmaster58

I would prefer triggering the flyout to keep consistency.

Are there any news right now about the request?
