Black screen with GoG
Late to the party, but I cannot get this working with what I assume to be the latest Gog version 1.1 - I installed it straight from galaxy.
Anyway, it goes to a black screen and will not progress and I'm using the most recent Gog_1.3 file from here.
Hum... Strange. So the version of the game on GoG is still 1.1? Maybe try the version 1.1 of the mod then.
I am running into the same issue but occasionally the game launches normally. I have no idea why or how. One extra thing I found is that if I start the game using the Settings Editor it always starts noramally.

Do you also run in to a problem where if you change any settings in game using the cell phone a few of the languages disappear from the menu? Particularly Simplified and Traditional Chinese. They are just gone and cannot be selected any more unless I remove the mod and start the original game. I don't play in those languages so it doesn't bother me but it certainly looks like an issue.
Hello, I just wanted to say something to the author and anyone having future issues with this. I tried launching and got this error as well, however I realized I was using the GoG exe, so the game loads up and doesn't start. (black screen but no crash etc) The fix for this is to navigate to your game folder and use the other exe. It has a different icon. For me it's in "X:\Games\River City Girls\Release" so do with that what you will but I honestly think you're just not using the exe after replacing.
Probably it depends on "Start in" option in GOG shortcut file. If you change it to <game directory>\Release , for example: C:\Games\River City Girls\Release , the game will start correctly.
