Seemingly no functionality

Open Lightdm opened this issue 3 years ago • 2 comments

It seems like nothing is working. I am on a Xiaomi Phone with Android 11 and OpenKeychain installed.
I installed the app from F-Droid, disabled the power-saving, and selected OpenKeychain as the provider. The checkbox at the very top to activate the service is checked. My pgp key is unlocked.
When I go into any app and select some encrypted text nothing happens. I am not sure what is supposed to happen, but I don't get a notification and no popup.
Maybe I am still missing something?

Hello, Lightdm.

First, thanks for using my app. I was pleasantly surprised about the fact that someone is still using this app since it was not updated for a few years.

When the app is running, a foreground notification should be displayed in the notification centre. But since it isn't, I suspect something is broken related to the foreground service.

Unfortunately, since I'm not using this app currently on a daily basis, and since I don't have a Xiaomi device to test, it will be difficult for me to resolve this problem.

Also, since most device vendors are limiting the app's background functionality, I doubt it would be really useful and plausible to rewrite this app to make it work with more recent Android versions.

If there are enough demands, I will, of course, consider other options.

Again, thank you for trying out my app, and I'm sorry to be not able to help you with this matter.

Hello,

thank you very much for the reply!
Knowing what is supposed to happen already helps me greatly, I will try to debug a bit on my own, thank you!
