Text skips words when running at faster speeds

Open serakfalcon opened this issue 10 years ago • 4 comments

When running at high speeds (750-950wpm and yes I can read that fast) the text skips words. This could be due to the browser not processing javascript fast enough (not sure if its a hardware thing). It also gets progressively slower as the page goes on, and by slower, I mean each word stays on the screen for longer but then several words will be skipped in the mean time.

What browser / OS? I have not experienced this.

It could be Attentional Blink http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attentional_blink

firefox 27, Windows 7, Dual core 2.7GHz 4GB RAM. It's definitely not attentional blink, I read 600wpm normally, and the words are going much, much slower than that. (comparing to the lower speeds, it looks like it's going 300wpm but is skipping words). I tried using Chrome, Chrome works fine, so I guess it's a firefox issue.

I've noticed this on Firefox 27.0.1 on Windows 7 as well when going at speeds over 600wpm. Also found that it worked more smoothly on Chrome.
