Ability to decrease the speed ratio between long and short words

Open rasmushaglund opened this issue 10 years ago • 5 comments

I find it kind of hard to follow the text when one or several long words are followed by several short. I don't know the exact speed ratio but to me it seems short words is displayed about half the time as large words.

I think this is a good feature, but personally I would like a toggle where I could alter that ratio.

Maik Maurer one of the spritz founders says that they change the ratio between the words for other languages. http://www.golem.de/news/spritz-auge-starr-aufs-wort-gerichtet-1403-104911-2.html I think a language detection would be a bit too much without a server application. But user defined profiles that can change the word display ratio and the delay for punctuation would be a good idea.

I agree, it would be great if the user could tweak some parameters and then save it in local storage. It would be fun to have some parameters to play aroud with. One solution could be to be able to slow down the first word after a long one by some fraction.

As mentioned previously, unfortunately there is currently no way to store local settings for OpenSpritz because it is a bookmarklet not bound to any domain. This may change in the near future though, at which point having settings would be more possible.

It seems like there a lot of language related issues popping up now. I am an English speaker, but I would like OpenSpritz to work in as many languages as possible, so any specific suggestions you have are very helpful.

Ah I see. So that would be solved by making it a Chrome extension, or maybe one could add parameters to the javascript or bookmark.

Yes, I'm thinking about something like an bookmarklet generator where you can set parameters.
