[FEAT]: Windows Desktop `uninstall.exe` option to delete all application info

Open geeklimit opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

How are you running AnythingLLM?

AnythingLLM desktop app

What happened?

Uninstaller doesn't clean up (at least) 2 folders that can take up the bulk of the application's disk usage, resulting in GBs of disk space being taken up after uninstall:

  • '%APPDATA%\anythingllm-desktop' is of the more major concern
  • '%LOCALAPPDATA%\anythingllm-desktop-updater' is a more minor concern.

The %APPDATA% one is the biggest concern because it is where very large files are stored. (models, mostly)

There is no option to choose to remove these files in the uninstaller.

Are there known steps to reproduce?

No response

This is the applications entire storage. Since everything is by default local we persist that directory so between version updates we don't wipe everything away. We can add a custom macro to the uninstaller though to delete the appdata as well - but you will lose all documents, progress, and models. It is dependent on what your storage holds

This is documented as well on https://docs.anythingllm.com/installation-desktop/uninstall#uninstalling-on-windows
