2.6.1 Bolus Speed (DANA RS) --> Prime / Fill
If you are using a DANA RS pump, you are able to change the bolus speed (s/U). That's perfect for me. So I'm able to slower the bolus speed. Normally I have selected 30 s/U.
But one problem occurs, when you are using a bolus speed greater as 12 s/U. The prime / fill function also uses this bolus speed. This makes no sense !!! You have to wait several minutes to fill the canula.
What could help ? The prime / fill function should always use the fastest bolus speed (12 s/U) instead of the bolus given bolus speed ! That would be super.
it makes perfect sense. From AAPS point of view fill is common bolus with remark do not count into IOB. You can use refill on pump directly
Where do you need a common bolus without counting into IOB ?. In my opinion nearly 100 % by priming / filling a new canula or tube. So the bolus speed (only by using Prime / fill) should be faster as the common bolus speed.
In the FAQ for Looper the recommendation is:
"The change of a canula however does not use the “prime infusion set” function of the pump, but fills the infusion set and/or canula using a bolus which does not appear in the bolus history. This means it does not interrupt a currently running temporary basal rate. On the Actions (Act) tab, use the PRIME/FILL button to set the amount of insulin needed to fill the infusion set and start the priming. If the amount is not enough, repeat filling. You can set default amount buttons in the Preferences > Other > Fill/Prime standard insulin amounts. See the instruction booklet in your canula box for how many units should be primed depending on needle length and tubing length."
