Render getting a bit darker/more saturated as more SPPs are accumulated?

Open TomClabault opened this issue 4 months ago • 3 comments

The images rendered (in benchmark mode but this also happens without the benchmark mode) seem to be getting quite a bit darker as more SPPs are rendered?

I zipped the images if you want to flip through them in an image viewer: renders.zip

I'm not sure if this is wrong but it doesn't look quite right either? I haven't seen that sort of "phenomenon" elsewhere. The render seems to be getting more saturated / blue-ish as well.

The render getting more saturated is expected from my experience. The render getting darker is indeed weird, it seems to be something specific to how that scene is set up. I am trying to figure it out.

Could it be because of GMoN maybe? Especially if you're using a high number of sets

I don't think the renders that you have send were done with GMoN enabled. With GMoN, you would see very dramatic darkening after the first sample and then gradual increase of brightness after a few samples. I only use three sets but I use a 3x3 filter to bump it up to 27 sets (I am not super happy about it but I can't afford to allocate so more memory per pixel).
