Can Ruby based linters be packaged and called?

@bobrocke I haven't even thought of this... I am not much of a Ruby guys, so I can't tell you how well it would fit. Any interest in a PR?

I'm not a Ruby guy either. Knowing the path to a gem, is there any reason this code base wouldn't be able to launch a ruby gem top be run by an installed Ruby interpreter??
