Can I convert the .rpl files to other formats such as gif or mp4?

This library does not have functionality for that. You have to load the .rpl file in full version of Toribash and record the video from screen with tools like OBS Studio. You can find useful commands here for controlling replays while recording it. I recommend installing one from Steam, as it is updated most frequently.

If you only want to observe replays yourself, you only need a full installation of Toribash where you can open the .rpl files.

If you find a better (automatic) way for this, please do share :). I imagine this would be a combination of reading a replay and storing images.
