Clarity For: External DNS records required for Skype for Business Online
Can we verify what DNS records are actually needed for Microsoft Teams (and why)? There's also a note in there that says the records are needed especially in hybrid scenario...I think this is false because in hybrid we typically leave DNS pointed to the on-prem SfB deployment until all users have been migrated.

I'm not sure what the activity in this thread since Feb 24 means, but it looks like there hasn't been any progress.
The OP's point stands to this day. The doc saying this...
"These DNS records also apply to Teams, especially in a hybrid Teams and Skype for Business scenario, where certain federation issues could arise."
...is misleading and vague. The 4 specific ones in that section of the doc should be explicitly defined in relation to:
- Teams (only): I think 0 of 4 are needed. This is the most common mode, so it should be crystal clear.
- Teams (hybrid): Unclear which of the 4, if any (probably: none)
- Teams (federation with SfB): Unclear which of the 4, if any
- Teams (federation with Skype consumer): sipfederationtls
Further clarity: _sip._tls SRV record handles sign in for the SfB client _sipfederationtls handles federation in Microsoft Teams CNAME lyncdiscover.contoso.com handles sign for the SfB client and specifically the SfB mobile client CNAME sip.contoso.com handles sign in for the SfB client
