Add #define to Xamarin solution build???

There is no link or documentation about how to consume the env variables into the Xamarin solution itself, I want to add some #define for the build process and it doesn't seem to work directly, the prebuild cannot add build arguments. This whole opact build step is painful, is there a way to add define to the build process? I want precompiler switch and not runtime env file. How can we achieve that with a Xamarin solution and AppCenter?
