Please add a section for Inter Tenant Port orders

Open jonwbstr opened this issue 2 years ago • 7 comments

When porting numbers from one Teams organization to another teams organization the process is different. For example, the numbers they have to be unassigned before the port can occur.

Guidance about when to unassign active numbers in the old tenant would also be beneficial. 10min before the scheduled time? Longer?

Related to #9194, which was closed because it contained multiple pieces of feedback I think

Hi @jonwbstr, thank you for your feedback.

How the process is different? I think this is a special case and you should contact the TNS service desk as Carolyn suggested. No special information to add to the article.

The requested information to submit the port order is different, the wait time to schedule the transfer is different, process for scheduling and completing the transfer is different.

The team involved in performing the transfer is different. What is the same? they both transfer numbers, that is about the only similarity. Hope this helps

As written the article suggests that inter-tenant ports are not available we can only port numbers into our out of microsoft. Not between two microsoft tenants.

I understand that you need to create a new service case with the TNS services desk to request any number porting between two Microsoft tenants. Also that Carolyn gave you the same information.

Please let me know if you don't need to open a service case with TNS for this scenario.

Hi dariomws, you are correct, sorry for the confusion. I didn't mean to suggest that the TNS service desk is not involved.

The TNS service desk has a team that performs port orders from other carriers. That team is not involved with inter-tenant port orders because the numbers are not moving to or from another carrier.

Ok, I'll try to confirm what is the procedure to port/move phone numbers between tenants.

Hi @jonwbstr, I confirmed that you need to open a new case with the TNS service desk to port phone numbers between tenants (also for other special cases). I have verified it in my lab:
