Edge Sync, still a problem. AIP is retired

Per #335 which was not resolved:

The documentation steps still explain:

  • You should enable AIP -- which is retired
  • Nothing about how-to

This is not a document you can follow if you have signed up as a brand new O365 tenant and you want to enable Edge Enterprise Sync. For example, you detail which "Sync Group Policies". There is no link to where in Azure one enables these policies - the reader is left to infer it.

The biggest problem throughout is still talking 100% about AIP, which was retired over 6 months ago, and all use of AIP in Azure Portal was disabled in March 2022: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/security-compliance-and-identity/announcing-aip-unified-labeling-client-maintenance-mode-and/ba-p/3043613 All updates in May to this page just added more explicit references to AIP, more links to AIP. I'm baffled.

What I'm expecting:

  • Introduction (as is, great) and the warning about User consent (also good)
  • Section outlining the Prerequisites and supported Environments (currently contains wrong info, but the idea is right)
  • Step by step How to Configure Microsoft Edge Sync - since that's the purpose of this page. "Go here, add a UF label, set this policy" level of guidance, not "Here's a link to UF, good luck"
  • Options within Sync (currently called "Sync Group Policies")

I'm expecting your documentation to be consistent with your own documentation. For reference/comparison, look at the "Configure Microsoft Edge policy settings in Microsoft Intune": https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/configuration/administrative-templates-configure-edge

That is a great guide - Prerequisites, Step-By-Step (with screenshots), and a "For More info" / "Next Steps" section.

This guide needs to be on that level. I appreciate trying to help with May's revisions, but they're still only making sense to someone who has lived and breathed AIP for months.
