Does Orange Pi 5 Max have 1440p 144hz desktop functionality?

Open frozen-cdn opened this issue 4 months ago • 1 comments

hello all I am going back and forth on pulling the trigger on an Orange Pi 5 Max but my concern is lack of GPU acceleration in the desktop and most importantly I need 144hz output the way my Orange Pi 5 OG is able to do. But on that board the Mainline Ubuntu couldn't output more than 60hz and had no acceleration

So I am confused

I know it supports 4k, but not exactly sure about the frequencies. I guess Ubuntu uses mainline Linux? That one has limited GPU support indeed. 4k support was added quite recently there: https://gitlab.collabora.com/hardware-enablement/rockchip-3588/notes-for-rockchip-3588/-/blob/main/mainline-status.md

Our images ship with the Rockchip sources based vendor kernel by default, so it should enable on kernel/driver level what the hardware supports.
