mtprint crashes on printing a dvi created from this tex file

Open marc40000 opened this issue 5 years ago • 8 comments

I have this .tex file that compiles with latex but running mtprint on it results in an error. This worked on 2.9 from 2 years ago. I now installed the current version and have this issue.

latex issue.tex
mtprint issue.dvi
Sorry, but "MiKTeX Print Utility" did not succeed.

The log file hopefully contains the information to get MiKTeX going again:

  C:\Users\intripoon\AppData\Local\MiKTeX\miktex\log\mtprint.log

mtprint.log says

2020-12-31 04:19:34,155+0100 FATAL mtprint - MiKTeX encountered an internal error.

I found some old installers and experimented: basic-miktex-2.9.7031-x64.exe works, but basic-miktex-2.9.7351.exe does not.

Thank you, I will take a look later this week...

Did you find anything?

I found that removing

\usepackage{pst-barcode} and \usepackage{pstricks-add}

from issue.tex makes it print with mtprint. Having just one of them in issue.tex, the log file of mtprint says

2021-02-10 14:24:57,560+0100 INFO mtprint - this process (11448) started by 'cmd' with command line: mtprint _layout.dvi 2021-02-10 14:24:57,622+0100 INFO mtprint.core - start process: miktex-dvips -D600 -T210mm,297mm -f1 _layout.dvi 2021-02-10 14:24:57,668+0100 INFO mtprint.core - start process: mgs -sDEVICE=bmp16m -sOutputFile=- -r600 -dDEVICEWIDTHPOINTS=595 -dDEVICEHEIGHTPOINTS=841 -q -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE -dSAFER - 2021-02-10 14:24:58,321+0100 FATAL mtprint.core - MiKTeX encountered an internal error. 2021-02-10 14:24:58,322+0100 FATAL mtprint.core - Data: 2021-02-10 14:24:58,322+0100 FATAL mtprint.core - Source: Libraries\MiKTeX\Dib\DibChunker.cpp:129 2021-02-10 14:24:58,322+0100 FATAL mtprint - MiKTeX encountered an internal error. 2021-02-10 14:24:58,322+0100 FATAL mtprint - Info: 2021-02-10 14:24:58,322+0100 FATAL mtprint - Source: Libraries\MiKTeX\Dib\DibChunker.cpp 2021-02-10 14:24:58,322+0100 FATAL mtprint - Line: 129 2021-02-10 14:26:55,161+0100 INFO mtprint - this process (9380) started by 'cmd' with command line: mtprint issue.dvi

My actual file needs barcodes, so I can't just leave that package out in there.

FYI: Afaik this issue still exists. Staleing this thread doesn't fix it.

Thank you. Please not that not every bug gets fixed. That said, this bug has currently a very low priority.

I appreciate the feedback. It's just that the way the first feedback was written, I expected an earlier answer. I will try to replace miktex then in my project.
